How We Lived Then; young and old together in Bungay

We teamed up with the Fisher Young Theatre Group in Bungay to produce this inspiring and rewarding intergenerational project. It involved teenagers visiting local care homes and producing a piece of theatre based on what they learned from the residents about their own childhood lives. Our young participants received training and guidance on how to communicate with and what to expect from older people with dementia before visiting two care homes in Bungay. At the homes they talked to the residents about their lives and then, back at the Fisher Theatre, spent time devising and developing a performance piece reflecting the stories they’d been told. This piece was not only performed back at the care homes, for the residents, but also at the Fisher Theatre for the public. It was a thought-provoking, moving and fulfilling project for all concerned.
