Beachcombing barmy with Sherlock Shingle

Sherlock Shingle is a character we’ve developed in partnership with beachcomber expert Kate Osborne from Beach Bonkers. Kate’s passion for beachcombing is infectious and when she’s not leading beachcombing expeditions on the Suffolk shoreline she loves to bring the beach (or a part of it, anyway) to libraries, schools, residential homes and anywhere else there are budding beachcombers keen to learn about the treasures just waiting to be discovered at the edge of the waves.

The eccentric beachcomber Sherlock Shingle brings a touch of theatre to the indoor beach experience. In his jacket bedecked with fabulous finds, he mingles one-to-one with visitors as well as run small group activities such as beach-related storytelling. Sherlock made his first public appearance at Lowestoft library in February and his enthusiastic, entertaining banter was warmly greeted by children and adults alike.

If you’d like Sherlock Shingle and the Beach Bonkers Beach to visit your venue, group or school please let us know, as we love bringing the joy and excitement of beachcombing to new audiences and would be very happy to tailor some activities specifically for you.
